CFCC Announces Winners of August 8th Online Rapid Prize Tournament!

Next Online 3|2 Blitz Arena With 6 Prize Levels is Wednesday (8/12)

CFCC announces weekly Wednesday evening 3 | 2 blitz 1-hour arena tournaments on chess.com starting at 8pm with prizes and a $10 early entry fee! Please see our Online Prize Tournaments page for more details.

Saturday's Rapid Winners (8/8)

The club wishes to congratulate (chessgm8) for winning 1st place in yesterday’s Rapid tournament with 3/3 points and the minimum guaranteed prize of $40.

The tournament concluded in only 3 rounds, instead of the normal 4 rounds, with only 6 players in attendance as most local competitive players are participating in the first-ever online Continental Chess 2020 World Open this weekend.

There was a 2-way tie for 2nd Place, where camdaman2003 and phiro47 each had 2/3 points and received a combined prize award of $20 each.

Other winners include (IM-Brennan) for our Top U1500 prize of $15 and (super_koi_fish) winning our Top U1200 prize of $15.

We had 6 club players competing in yesterday’s Rapid online prize tournament that includes a results table listing all the players and tournament pairings, and we look forward to this Saturday’s Rapid online prize tournament on August 15th that starts exactly at 2pm EST!

WEDNESDAY’S BLITZ WINNERS (8/5)

Congratulations to chessgm8 for finishing with a total of 25 points and the 1st place prize of $25 (prize fund b/18) in tonight’s blitz arena! Akbar_mo, with a total of 20 points, finished in 2nd place and won a prize of $17.50. The 3rd place prize of $10 went to ryry8000, who finished the tournament with 18 points.

gmiket won the Top U1800 prize of $10 with a total of 6 points, and this week’s Top U1500 prize of $10 went to IvanGoponenko, who finished the tournament with 3 points.

Thank you to all the players who attended tonight’s event. You can view the full results table and pairings from each round on chess.com.

We look forward to next Wednesday’s online blitz arena prize tournament on August 12, which starts exactly at 8pm EST!

New CFCC Online Player Lookup Table

In an effort to discourage the few online players who apparently want to play dramatically stronger online than they are able to do in OTB USCF tournaments, the club now provides a quick access alphabetical online-username-to-USCF lookup table as an objective reference point for evaluating a player's online vs over-the-board performance.

Reminder of Chess.com’s Fair Play Policies For Online Tournaments

Chess.com has strict Fair Play policies and advanced software analysis tools regarding players who appear to be using some form of electronic assistance (e.g. chess engines) in making their moves in tournament games played on their platform.

In fact, after a chess.com review process of our May 9th online tournament, two of our players in that tournament, who finished in 1st & 2nd place, were flagged by chess.com for their unrealistic accuracy rate in games against titled National Master players. As such, both players had their accounts closed by chess.com and were disqualified from winning their place prizes.
