CFCC Announces Winners of August 15th Online Rapid Prize Tournament!
Next Online 5SS G/3 | 2 Blitz With 6 Prize Levels is Wednesday (8/26)
CFCC announces Wednesday evening 5SS G/3 | 2 blitz tournaments on chess.com starting at 8pm with prizes and a $10 early entry fee! Please see our Online Prize Tournaments page for more details.
Saturday's Rapid Winners (8/15)
The club wishes to congratulate NM Theo Slade (TheoSlade) and Jayant Maheshwari (Flareblitz7) for their 1st place tie in yesterday’s Rapid 15 | 10 tournament where each player scored 3.5/4 points and earned a combined prize of $32.50 each.
There was a three-way tie for 3rd Place, with farpecan1, KanekiB and THDurham each scoring 3/4 points providing them with a combined prize of $10 each. Neelsahai also had 3/4 points which earned him the Top U1500 Prize of $15.
Other winners include super_koi_fish and Anderbot who tied for our Top U1200 Prize providing them with $7.50 each.
We had 24 club players competing in yesterday’s Rapid online prize tournament that includes a results table listing all the players and tournament pairings, and we look forward to this Saturday’s Rapid online prize tournament on August 22nd that starts exactly at 2pm EST!
No Winner’s For Last Wednesday’s Scheduled Arena Blitz (8/12)
There were not enough registered players last Wednesday to be able to pair the 3 | 2 Arena Blitz tournament on chess.com so the event was cancelled. This Wednesday we are trying a different format, going with a Swiss style 5-game 3 | 2 blitz tournament.
New CFCC Online Player Lookup Table
In an effort to discourage the few online players who apparently want to play dramatically stronger online than they are able to do in OTB USCF tournaments, the club now provides a quick access alphabetical online-username-to-USCF lookup table as an objective reference point for evaluating a player's online vs over-the-board performance.

Reminder of Chess.com’s Fair Play Policies For Online Tournaments
Chess.com has strict Fair Play policies and advanced software analysis tools regarding players who appear to be using some form of electronic assistance (e.g. chess engines) in making their moves in tournament games played on their platform.
In fact, after a chess.com review process of our May 9th online tournament, two of our players in that tournament, who finished in 1st & 2nd place, were flagged by chess.com for their unrealistic accuracy rate in games against titled National Master players. As such, both players had their accounts closed by chess.com and were disqualified from winning their place prizes.
Fair & Square
The Central Florida Chess Club (CFCC) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization founded in 1987 to organize and host USCF rated chess tournaments in the Central Florida area.
Having organized over 390 competitive USCF rated chess tournaments over the past 30+ years, CFCC will not reward chess players who appear to be using anything other than their existing knowledge of the game when competing in any of our chess tournament events, whether online or over-the-board.
We encourage our online Chess Club players to provide us feedback about your online tournament experience and to pass along any ideas you may have about improving the dynamics of our online tournament events.
