CFCC 2019 Club Champion
Congratulations goes to FM Dalton Perrine who finished with 4/5 points to become CFCC’s 2019 Club Champion among a field of 8 (USCF 1800+) rated tournament players.
The club would like to thank all the players that participated in our inaugural invitation-only Club Championship this year!
The newly adopted quick-rated 5SS G/25;d4 tournament certainly produced some interesting matches that will be part of TD Terrance Washington’s tournament recap posted below.

Tournament Director’s 2019 CFCC Club Championship Recap
The 2019 CFCC Club Championship opened up with 2 consecutive surprises and upsets on board 1. Phillip Durand (1727 Quick) defeated FM Dalton Perrine (2068 Quick) in round 1 and then proceeded to duplicate his score by defeating NM Martin Hansen (2065 Quick) in Round 2.
The event proved very hard to predict because Dalton and Martin each went on to win their following 2 match ups, while Phillip lost his next two match ups against Ryan Hamley (1730 Quick) and Carlos Rivas (1622 Quick).
This left us with a predictable match up, which was reached in the most unpredictable way, in the final round: FM Dalton Perrine vs. NM Martin Hansen for the prestigious title. Ryan Hamley also had an outside chance to tie for first if the two Masters drew their game. However, that was not to be with Dalton showing great technique, in time pressure, in a rook and pawn endgame. Dalton found himself in time pressure for much of the tournament, but he showed poise and resilience as he found a way to win.
That's what Champions do.
Dalton is a full time coach and he does not play many OTB tournaments and we hope being crowned CFCC Club Champion for 2019 inspires him to play more! It was a joy to watch!
Let's all give it up for our Club Champion for 2019: FM DALTON PERRINE
