Saturday’s Winners (6/27)
The club wishes to congratulate Naman Kumar (Nspace2) and FM Corey Acor (TampaChess) for their 1st Place tie in Saturday’s online rapid tournament, where each player earned a perfect 4/4 points and received a combined prize payout of $65 each.
There were lots of ties in this tournament, producing five 3rd place winners who all scored 3/4 points: Nicolas De la Colina (Nicolas_DeLaColina), NM Theo Slade (TheoSlade), NM Raghav Venkat (LilRag), and CM Andrew Catlin (acatlin) who each received a $12 prize from the combined 3rd place and Top U1800 prizes.
Five players also tied for our Top U1400 prize, including Ivan G. (IvanGoponenko), Aditeya V. (ancienttaffy), Agrim K. (Agrimjax), Kyle K. (KblokK), and Aniket S. (farpecan1) with their 2/4 points that provided each player with a $6 prize, while Anderson L. (Anderbot) won our Top U1200 $30 prize with a score of 1.5/4 points.
Unfortunately, one of our players from last Saturday, (AarymanV), who originally tied for 3rd place with 4 other players, was determined by chess.com to be violating their Fair Play policies and subsequently had his chess.com player accounts closed. The club has since removed him from our online chess club and withdrawn his eligibility to tie for 3rd place.
We look forward to this Saturday’s prize tournament on July 4th that starts exactly at 2pm EST!
Player Results Table (6/27)
Thanks to all the players who have joined our online chess club and participated in Saturday’s event! We had 27 club players competing in Saturday’s online prize tournament that includes a results table listing all the players and tournament pairings.
New CFCC Online Player Lookup Table
In an effort to help reduce the occurrence of the few online players who apparently want to play dramatically stronger online than they are able to do in OTB USCF tournaments, the club now provides a quick access alphabetical online-username-to-USCF lookup table as an objective reference point for evaluating a player's online vs over-the-board performance.
Reminder of Chess.com’s Fair Play Policies For Online Tournaments
Chess.com has strict Fair Play policies and advanced software analysis tools regarding players who appear to be using some form of electronic assistance (e.g. chess engines) in making their moves in tournament games played on their platform.
In fact, after a chess.com review process of our May 9th online tournament, two of our players in that tournament, who finished in 1st & 2nd place, were flagged by chess.com for their unrealistic accuracy rate in games against titled National Master players. As such, both players had their accounts closed by chess.com and were disqualified from winning their place prizes.
Fair & Square
The Central Florida Chess Club (CFCC) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization founded in 1987 to organize and host USCF rated chess tournaments in the Central Florida area.
Having organized over 390 competitive USCF rated chess tournaments over the past 30+ years, CFCC will not reward chess players who appear to be using anything other than their existing knowledge of the game when competing in any of our chess tournament events, whether online or over-the-board.
We encourage our online Chess Club players to provide us feedback about your online tournament experience and to pass along any ideas you may have about improving the dynamics of our online tournament events.
